Today I'm speaking with Infertility Awareness and IVF advocate, Jamie Heard.
Jamie took the brave leap into advocacy when Alabama ruled on the personhood of an embryo. Having her family building abruptly halted, she harnessed her bravery and used her anger and fear as tools to speak out for IVF and fertility treatments.
This interview is powerful. Some of the topics we cover include:
- Finding out her infertility diagnosis in the midst of family crisis
- Her decision to share her diagnosis right after receiving good news
- The Alabama Supreme Court ruling and how it affected her family building journey
- Her journey from anger to advocating for IVF at the Alabama State Capitol
- Taking her fight to Washington DC and testifying in front of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary
- Her continued advocacy efforts in partnership with RESOLVE, the national infertility association
- A serendipitous moment that launched her into her power
Jamie’s story is a true inspiration filled with resilience.
